OVER TO YOU
A literary favourite here at Sendb00ks, not only because Katie and I grew up in the author's home town of Aylesbury and were forced into dressing up as characters from James and The Giant Peach or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but also for his incredible story-telling ability. His are books to read aloud, to memorise, to go back to. Guaranteed entertainment.
This particular early penguin edition depicts Dahl's early memories from his experience as a wartime fighter pilot. Before a crash destroyed his career Dahl was not writing, after suffering a brain injury, along with becoming a spy, he did very little else.
Though he and his work have been criticized for antisemitism, racism and misogyny in 2008, The Times placed Dahl 16th on its list of "The 50 Greatest British Writers Since 1945".
