This summer, Sendb00ks convenes for the first time in residence. Six artists travel to Rocca Sinibalda, a scorpion-shaped fortress-palace perched 2,100 feet above the Turano Valley in the Lazio region of Italy, most recently renovated by architect Claudio Silvestrin. Beneath its Renaissance frescos, drawn directly from the Metamorphoses, they will spend two weeks creating.
The commission: to re-interpret Ovid's Metamorphoses through the design of six detachable book sleeves. The sleeves will be produced and bound on site, and revealed at an opening dinner on 3 July before being made available as limited editions.
The residency is the first of what will become a recurring programme. One that, not unlike its source material, will metamorph across literature, art, and continents.

My spirit moves me to tell of forms changed into new bodies.
The Digital Residency
While the residency happens in person, you can follow it here and on our Substack. We will be sharing the digital ecology of the residency in tandem as it unfolds. Conversations with the artists, as well as recordings of talks and lectures from inside the castle, process dispatches, myth deep-dives, and more.
Subscribe to our Substack and return to this page throughout June and July. Nothing is produced in isolation.
