What is Beauty?
A seminar with Anitra Louire - lecturer of Philosophy of Art at Le Sorbonne
“Beauty is in your mind” - Agnes Martin
Following on from our test class in December, we are delighted to offer a full spring term Philosophy of Art seminar with Anitra Lourie every Monday evening over the coming 10 weeks. Together will be reviewing, discussing and deconstructing different philosophical concepts on beauty - from Charles Baudelaire and Simone Weil to ‘In praise of Shadows’ by Jun’ichirō Tanazaki to explore the ideas of authors and philosophers from antiquity up through modernity. In next Monday’s class we will look at Plato and Elaine Scary’s On Beauty and Being Just.
If you would like to join us, the classes will cost 10 euro a session - come in packages of 5 or 10 (an ideal Valentine’s Day gift) and meet at 7pm Paris time for around 2 hours.
When you sign up we will send you an email to the Zoom link and the full syllabus.
We really look forward to seeing you!
